FAQ

Any man wishing to spend time in God’s creation with other men. Feel free to invite other men to join us. Children/grandchildren are invited as well, however, you are responsible for them for the weekend.

Yes, you can attend the campout, but must be registered under a responsible parent, guardian, or grandparent in attendance for the weekend.

There is not a set minimum age for children. It is the responsibility of the registered adult to care for their kids over the weekend. The younger the age, the more watching they will require. A recommended minimum age would be 3-4 years of age.

The spot for the campout is approximately 9.6 miles north of Chambers Lake on Laramie River Road, accessed off of HWY 14 up the Poudre Canyon. Plan to drive up on your own or carpool with someone else. Feel free to come up at your convenience.

Camp is located in the national forest, not an established campground. Tent sites will be dispersed over a large area.

Free! There is no cost for the campout.

Yes (sort of). You  can donate to the Men’s Ministry Fund through Mountain View.

All meals from Friday evening through Sunday morning are provided. You are encouraged to bring snacks between meals and activities.

No. Laramie River Road is dirt from HWY 14, nothing a passenger vehicle can’t handle – a 4-wheel drive or off-road vehicle is not required to access the campsite.

Here is some basic, recommended equipment/gear:

Food – All regular meals and water will be supplied. Any additional snacks, food, drinks, or special diet needs will be up to your discretion. Having some extra “fuel” for the younger ones in your group is never a bad idea.

GearTent, sleeping bag/blankets, and ground pad. Plenty of trees around if you have a hammock. We will be at a higher elevation, and the nights may be quite cool – a portable tent heater may work well for your group if you tend to stay cold.

Water bottle – can’t stress enough to stay hydrated, so a personal water bottle would be helpful. The younger guys will be hitting it hard each day and must be reminded to drink liquids throughout our trip. Dehydration stinks and can ruin a trip real quick. My rule of thumb – take your body weight and cut it in half; that’s approximately how many ounces of water (minimum) you should be drinking each day (150 lbs = 75 ounces of water).

Swim Suit – We are camping right next to the beautiful Laramie River so bring your swimsuit and plan for your younger guys to want to get wet.

Fishing – That’s right, the Laramie River is only a few steps from the campsite. Ensure your current Colorado fishing license is on hand (required for anyone 18 or older). I would strongly encourage waders to access some of the more remote areas on the river, which are great for fly fishing rods. Also, Chambers Lake is 15 minutes down the road if lake fishing is more your speed.

Bug Spray and Sunscreen – Flies and mosquitoes will be present, so plan accordingly. We will be a lot closer to the sun, so lather up your younger guys if needed, especially if they spend time in the water.

Yes and no. The planned activities are around meals. We will have two devotionals each day, morning and evening. The rest of the day is left to your imagination. Some activities would be hiking, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing. There’s a lot you can do in the N.F. Find someone else to take with you.
